The Susquehanna Industrial Tool & Die Co.
Saturday November 6th 2010
Susquehanna Industrial Tool & Die Co. is the little New York City rockabilly trio with the big name.
"The band has matching suits, period set pieces with graphics and typefaces straight out of the early 50s and what sounds like cleverly scripted, faux-corny between-song banter. These guys put on a show and, mercy, they’re pretty darned good. Their originals sound like country standards from fifty years ago and the upright bass player swings like hell. He doesn’t push the beat like so many bluegrass and oldtimey cats do." lucid culture 10.04.2007

Featuring Aisha Hosley with the Josh Fialkoff Trio
Sunday April 25, 2010
The vocal reference of Aisha Hosley is somewhere between jazz great Ella Fitzgerald, soul giant Aretha Franklin, and classical mezzo-soprano Denisee Graves. This dynamic range comes from her lifetime passion for music, her classical training, and a number of projects throughout New York City. Aisha is a graduate of the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where she studied classical and jazz singing with instructors Dominique Eade, Cecil McBee, Carol Sloane, Allan Chase, and Patricia Craig....
Aisha appreciates her longtime relationship with the Swing Doctors, and has expanded her projects by putting together her own band. As the bandleader, she is thrilled to perform and record her own original music of R&B, jazz, and blues. Though her vocal performances evoke singers of the past, the combination of her classical training, songwriting, and versatility make Aisha an original talent in a city of wannabes.
Josh Fialkoff originally hit the lindy music scene as the bass player for Solomon Douglas......With a strong desire to beat his own path he returned back to his first love - the piano. Josh now sings and plays throughout the US...with his bands J-Street and The Fried Bananas at major events in the area including BIX, Beantown, CTLX, Montreal Bagel and Blues, The Albany Exchange and a host of others. With strong influence from Ray Charles, Gene Harris, Lou Rawls and others he strives to create soul and blues inspired music that leaves one no choice but to move. joshfialkoff.com

The Cangelosi Cards
Saturday November 21, 2009
The Cangelosi Cards are a seven-piece jazz band based in New York
City. The group performs regularly downtown and in Brooklyn and has
traveled throughout the United States and Europe playing for dancers
and listening audiences alike. Recently the group has performed at
the Herrang Dance Camp in Sweden and the Arctic Lindy Exchange in
Iceland. When traveling to play for dancers the Cards play dance music tailored
for lindy hop, charleston, and balboa. They play popular songs,
standards, and blues as well.
"The Cangelosi Cards are one of the best bands I've seen anywhere.
They have a great live show, perfect for dancing! I envy any one who
has not yet seen them because you now have the chance to see them for
the first time! They keep it strictly real, playing traditional New
Orleans style jazz, but continue to see at as a living tradition- and
as such bring in influences from outside the cannon, such as country,
blues, and early popular music. The level of musicianship is
brilliant, bring your dancing shoes."

Champian Fulton and her Quartet
Friday March 19, 2010 NOTE DATE CHANGE!
Saturday October 31, 2009
The daughter of jazz trumpeter Stephen Fulton, Champian Fulton had plenty of early exposure to the music through her father's playing with his friends, among them Clark Terry and the late Major Holley.........Champian Fulton is a refreshing change from many of the singing jazz pianists of the past two decades, as she excels in both areas while never resorting to simply doing the minimum to get by in her interpretation of standards.........While Fulton's voice is youthful, her vocals often incorporate the touches of a veteran, including a defiant interpretation of "When Your Lover Has Gone" that has a sassiness reminiscent of Carmen McRae (who too infrequently accompanied herself on piano, though she was a fine pianist), along with her superb vocal inflections and bebop chops in her driving setting "September in the Rain". Fulton also masters slow ballads, such as Duke Ellington's powerful "All Too Soon," in which she communicates the sorrow of lost love desiring a reunion as if she has lived the lyrics....... Champian Fulton is a gifted musician who is deserving of wider recognition. Ken Dryden for All About Jazz New York August 2009

The Yalloppin Hounds
Sunday September 9th 2007
In 1998, several members of the Illinois Jacquet band, past and present, began jamming on their own to create a smaller group. Tapes were sent out, and the Yalloppin' Hounds were born.............The Yalloppin Hounds have since possessed the distinction of being the first band in the world to combine the elements of traditional Swing with Hip-Hop stylings, creating a unique and excitingly fresh hybrid..........Since their first incarnation in 1998, the Hounds have grown from a vibrantly authentic swing/jazz band to producing some of the most universal original music of the new millennium.
Considered by many to be the finest and busiest band to arrive on the New York Swing scene, The Yalloppin' Hounds derive their name from a running gag among the musicians of the Illinois Jacquet Big Band. One day at a French concert, Jacquet poked fun at another well-known Swing band from New York by referring to them as a bunch of "yallopping hounds", so when the founding members, all Jacquet alumnus, got together to think up a name for their new swing band, the choice was obvious. "We knew enough about each other already to hear a sound in our heads...and the sound was that of a bunch of barking dogs...." explains bandleader and saxophonist Joey "G-Clef" Cavaseno.

Stompy Jones from California!
Sunday July 22, 2007

Stompy Jones is a San Francisco based sextet, renowned for their jumpin' rhythm, wailing improvisations, hip charm and explosive stage show. Whether appearing at a posh supper club, concert hall, festival or down the road a piece, the solid sounds of these journeymen of jump are delivered in the romping, joyous, overwhelming style of jazz that came to be known as Rock and Roll!
History of Stompy Jones
The origin of the band known today as Stompy Jones can be traced back to the spring of 1998. The place...a small club named the Hiball Lounge, in the heart of San Francisco's North Beach district. "Little David" and Bowen Brown (Bowen is no longer with the band, Leor shuffles the skins...) were looking to put together a new act. The idea was to book a string of Tuesdays, and essentially invite players to come audition in front of an audience. The Tuesdays were billed as "Swing Session with Little David." They began by enlisting Scott Lawrence, a piano payer whom David had recently met. Scott brought on board an old cohort, vocalist and notorious cut-up "Pops" Walsh (Due to health problems, Pops is no longer with the band, Chris Binnings is the front man). Settling on the right horn players wasn't quite that easy. After a procession of players, the first keeper emerged, trumpeter "Happy" Hyland. (Tim Hyland is no longer with the band, Rob Dehlinger blows trumpet...) The following week when "Erv" showed up, the chemistry was undeniable. In just over a month of Tuesdays, David found himself on that cramped little stage, in front of a packed house, flanked by the swingin'est little jump blues band around.
