The Swing Remix Saga continues into  the FALL 2019 Season with Live Music featuring Glenn Crytzer’s Savoy Seven, Expect to see our Vintage Market, Showcases by our instructors, and lots of Social floor time. This will be Glenn Crytzer’s 10th appearance with us tying the all time appearance record currently held by Gordon Webster. Glenn Crytzer’s Savoy 7 is sure to please with that distinctive Rhythm guitar sound that’s a crowd favorite with the Balboa & Collegiate Shaggers! We’re expecting a packed house.

Glenn Crytzer is a New York City based bandleader, arranger, composer, guitarist, and vocalist who is in love with the music of the Jazz Age and Swing Era.

While completing his formal training in classical composition and cello at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Florida State University, Glenn took up dancing the Lindy Hop as a hobby. Through the Lindy his love of early jazz grew, but he lamented that there were so few musical groups that specialized authentic performance of his favorite kind of music. Glenn decided to put his musical training to use, taught himself guitar, banjo, and jazz arranging, and set about bringing to life the music he loved.

Now in his mid 30s, Glenn has become a staple in New York City’s jazz scene as a guitarist and bandleader. He has released 8 albums with his big band and combos and dozens of his recordings have been featured in films and TV shows seeking to evoke the sound of the golden age of radio. In 2017 his big band was named Best Group in New York in the NYC Jazz Awards. https://www.glenncrytzer.com

WORKSHOPS
6:30PM (55min) – Exploring The Balboa | Swing Workshop (Adv Basics and up) Location: Auditorium L2
Description: A great Exploration of the style of swing called Balboa. Here you’ll get a wonderful intruduction to the dance, learn the basic footwork and pattern or two.

7:30PM (55min) SOLO JAZZ WORKSHOP | TRICKERATION CHOREOGRAPHY  Level: Int +
Location: 4th Floor
Description: Learn or refresh your knowledge of this world famous routine created by NORMA MILLER the Queen of Swing. In response to the GLOBAL TRICKERATION PROJECT, we’ll be participating by presenting this workshop followed by a showcase of the routine later in the evening open to all who wish to participate! A portion of the sales of this workshop will go towards the Frankie Manning Foundation (to benefit The Norma Miller Estate)

This class is great if you’re new to swing or if you would like a refresher on partnering. You’ll learn techniques that will bring you up to speed with the crowd of swing dancers. This class is FREE with your General Admission ticket.
