About Us

The Original and Official Swing Remix was a monthly social dance based in New York City that presented world class swing bands, top notch deejays, LIVE dance performances, all for the enjoyment of the community.

Our dance parties launched at a night club called SOL on the Lower West Side by organizers and co-founders Paolo Pasta Lanna (1998 American Swing Dance Champion) & Spencer Weisbond (an independent orthotics manufacturer).

Following those short lived dance parties were a series of programs at dance studios Basic Ballroom and Manhattan Ballroom which were presented on Friday nights and occasional Saturday nights. In 2011 we began regular programs at our premier venue the Marlene Meyerson JCC on the Upper West Side. These events featured pre-dance workshops and offered demos and showcases during our prime time band breaks. There were also fashion vendors that displayed vintage collectables for both viewing and sale.

The vision and concept in our name was dreamed up and designed by Paolo & his design group Studiopaolo Design. He penned much of the promotional content and all of the graphics and visuals from 2007 – 2020. Some of the promotional material is listed in chronological order here https://jumpinentertainment.com/about-us

Mr. Lanna’s entertainment group Jumpin’ Entertainment LLC took care of much of the logistics, planning, content writing and was responsible for submitting all revenue calculations, cutting of checks for rental space and payouts to all talent from 2011 – 2020.

Our description as penned by Jumpin Entertainment, was as follows “continuing to forge new ground for the development and longevity of swing…Most of our tunes will be the stuff you all love to hear, and along side we will experiment a bit with the music as we see fit at these fantastic venues. Whether you come for the dancing, for the music, or for the visual effects, you’re bound to enjoy.”

Our events were held at various spectacular locations in and around Manhattan and our main venue and former home was the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan at 334 Amsterdam Avenue.

A snag in the partnership arose in 2021 when Spencer illegally removed Paolo from administrative access to the official SWING REMIX facebook page (the very page that Mr. Lanna opened and created in 2007 for the partnership). This Hijacking of a co-operative page was wrong. He sighted ideological differences regarding how to move forward during a period of lockdowns and mandates, but this by no means justified such an illegal,  immoral action, which was impulsive, rash and deeply damaging to the history on the facebook page. That one act removed Paolo’s name from the authorship of every single post and event that he created from it’s inception in 2007 through 2020. Spencer would have been notified that his act would do this and he still moved forward with this selfish and irreversible action.
